The Biggest Names in Pro-Wrestling, From WWF to WWE

World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) is making a new move up in the entertainment industry. WWE Raw, WWE Smack down and WWE Divas commercials are all over the cable channels. The commercials and the shows are in your face solid entertainment. I have never been a wrestling fanatic, but have watched it a bit while visiting with friends that were. One of my buddy's wife has a fully size cardboard cut out of "Stone Cold" Steve Austin in their bedroom. So after a great barbeque and an hour of watching wrestling videos they had taped. I just started thinking about how wrestlers are doing in the world after wrestling. Knowing that I am not a wresting fan, they asked me to name a few wrestlers that I did know.

Living in the Florida Keys the first name that come to my mind was The Rock. A former University of Miami Football star, The Rock became a very successful pro wrestler in a short career. Now he is making movies and will do well in the film industry.

The second that came to my mind was, Andre the Giant. Andre was big news in my earlier years, as a wrestler. He made a move to the silver screen and has done well. He is a very good actor all though his gargantuan size limits his roles. My grand nieces loved him The Princess Bride.

Who has not heard of Hulk Hogan? While his movies and television show was never my cup of tea, I sat through a few and was impressed with his repoire with kids. His classic, "tee shirt" ripping entrance is hard to forget.

"Stone Cold" Steve Austin, as I mentioned was my buddy's favorite. I had not heard much about "Stone Cold", but they told me he was number one in wrestling paraphernalia sales. That is one heck of a lot of money! He is set for life just on tee shirts sales.

Another famous wrestler that came to my mind was Jesse Ventura. I only knew him as Governor Jesse Ventura. My buddies told me he was a big time announcer in his day and had a good acting career before getting into politics.

Finally, Rowdy Roddy Piper, I only remember seeing Rowdy on the tube once or twice getting whipped in the last second by Hulk Hogan. The name though, it just sticks in your head! We had to get on-line to see if he was successful. He is, he has credits in a sci-fi classic called They Live!

I left my friend's home with a full belly and new respect for pro wrestlers. This could end up being a good parlor game for people if the cable goes out "name that wrestler."
